Prof. Avi Rivkind, MD, has been tapped for the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement, Israel's most prestigious award, in honor of his extraordinary contributions to society and the State of Israel. One of Israel's leading surgeons, Prof. Rivkind is a specialist in trauma medicine and the founder of the country’s first trauma center at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has saved the lives of thousands of sick and wounded and, among other things, led the surgical division and trauma unit at the Hadassah Medical Organization, where he continues to serve today.
According to a Ynet article, the prize committee said that Prof. Rivkind “embodies the values of the sanctity of life, love of humanity and the land, and high-quality, equitable public medicine.”
