Iran Attacks Israel: Statement from Hadassah National President Carol Ann Schwartz

Today, Iran launched an unprecedented, large-scale attack on Israel, firing hundreds of drones and missiles. As of this writing, many of the drones are thankfully being intercepted in the air, many over Jerusalem, and there has only been one casualty – a Bedouin child was wounded. We hope for a full recovery.

Hadassah unequivocally condemns this vicious attack led by Iran. We stand solidly with Israel and support Israel’s right to defend itself against any forces that threaten its people and aim for its destruction. We are heartened by responses from President Biden, members of Congress and leaders around the world who continue to stand with Israel and who are helping to defend her against this assault.

I know we are all thinking about our loved ones and dear colleagues in Israel, who have already suffered terrible losses and trauma, and who have been living under tremendous stress over the last 6 months - beginning on October 7 with Hamas’ invasion into Israel and savage rampage and continuing for the 190 days that Hamas has held men, women and babies hostage. May our collective prayers give them continued strength to endure.

As we did on October 7 and since, Hadassah and the Hadassah Medical Organization will act swiftly to protect and heal the people of Israel. Our hospitals are on high alert, fully staffed and prepared should the situation escalate, and our Youth Aliyah villages will attend to the physical and emotional safety of the students and staff.

We pray for the safety of our Hadassah family and everyone in our beloved Israel and we pray for peace.

Hadassah stands proudly with Israel, always.

Your generous support of Hadassah is greatly appreciated, especially during times of crisis like now.
