Hadassah adopted two new policy statements at the March 2026 National Assembly Meeting in Washington, DC, calling for the full disarmament of Hamas and for increased research on women’s health issues and greater protections for personal health data.
“Hadassah’s advocacy is grounded in our work to empower women and strengthen the Jewish future in the US, Israel and around the world,” said Hadassah National President Carol Ann Schwartz. “Our new policy statements outline our positions on two critical and timely issues, including the safety of the State of Israel. Israel will never be secure until Hamas has completely disarmed.”
Disarming Hamas as a Crucial Step to Lasting Peace was adopted in response to efforts to advance peace in the Middle East and reaffirms our unwavering support for the existence and safety of the State of Israel and for the self-determination of the Jewish people. This statement underscores the geopolitical reality that lasting peace will never be achieved as long as Hamas remains armed.
Supporting Women’s Health Research and Data Privacy reaffirms Hadassah’s commitment to advancing women’s health priorities through expanded research, inclusive clinical trials and stronger protections for personal health data. Despite comprising more than half of the US population, women remain underrepresented in clinical research, and medical conditions that disproportionately affect women remain underfunded. At the same time, the risks to data privacy created by the rapid growth of digital tools demand comprehensive digital privacy protections for personal health information, including data on reproductive and sexual health.
“Hadassah has always paired advocacy with action,” said Hadassah CEO Ellen Finkelstein. “As an organization committed to advancing women’s health, we continue to address gaps in women’s health research and to work to ensure that women’s health data, including information about reproductive and sexual health, remains confidential.”
