Pure Happiness at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem

For 20 years, Efrat and Itzik Khoury endeavored without success to have children. “We went through a lot of treatments,” relates Itzik. “We tried all the possible treatments over and over again, and the hardship was great.” But, Efrat and Itzik never lost faith that the coveted moment would arrive.

About a year ago, the couple received a blessing from 93-year-old Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky and, at the recommendation of Efrat’s sisters, sought fertility treatments at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. Only a short time afterward, the couple was informed that Efrat was pregnant. Last week, she gave birth to a daughter and named her Rivka.

Itzik notes that, though the birth itself was not easy, the Hadassah staff monitored Efrat the entire time. “Everyone understood how special the pregnancy was,” he says. Twice during Efrat’s labor, the baby’s heart rate fell, and, not wanting to take any unnecessary risks, the obstetrician decided to perform a cesarean section.

“Efrat’s sisters unanimously recommended Hadassah, and they were right,” Itzik relates.

“Never have we seen such care,” Itzak says, “how they enveloped us in a canopy of warmth and feeling, with support at every moment. They went out of their way to give us the best experience possible, and they were very sensitive to the situation, especially Tami Goldberg, one of our midwives, who was truly an angel. She was so calm, relaxed and serene, and she worked in full partnership with my wife. We are grateful to the staff of Hadassah Ein Kerem— both in the delivery room and in the maternity unit. We are thrilled.”
