White Coat Ceremony: A Milestone for Nurses

Twenty-five Advanced Practice Nursing students donned their prestigious new jackets at the White Coat Ceremony held at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem on December 30, 2025. The white coats mark the rite of passage into clinical nursing practice. Hadassah National President Carol Ann Schwartz and Nancy Falchuk, nurse and past national president, were among those attending the ceremony and congratulating the cohort of nursing leaders.

"It is an honor for me to stand here before you, representing Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America," Schwartz said. "I feel that pride and joy for you that each of our members from across the United States feels. We have an army of volunteers that stands with you, supports you and believes in you and what you are doing.”

The Henrietta Szold Hadassah-Hebrew University School of Nursing offers a rare MSc program for Advanced Practice Nursing (APN), preparing nurses for clinical roles in fields such as oncology, gerontology and critical care. Graduates become “nurse specialists” and leaders in clinical roles, administration and research.

Faculty member and nurse Dr. Caryn Andrews said, "The White Coat Ceremony signifies the next step of our students in Advanced Practice Nursing. Doctors wear green scrubs, nurses wear blue, and the white coats become an identification of who the advanced practice nurses are."
