Daniel Vorbyev, an 11th-grade student at Hadassah Neurim Youth Aliyah Village, is returning from the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) with an individual honorable mention as part of the Israeli delegation that won a bronze team medal.
This was the first time Israel competed in the IOAI, which brought together 480 students from 108 countries this year in Kazakhstan. The Israeli delegation was made up of students who train on Israel's prestigious National Computer Science Team, selected from thousands of students across the country. The team trains at the Bar-Ilan University Youth Center.
At the IOAI, team members competed in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, computer vision, natural language processing, audio models and practical problem-solving using Python and AI libraries.
The competition included two individual rounds, each lasting six hours, in which students were required to solve complex data science and machine learning challenges in areas such as computer vision, NLP and audio processing. In addition, delegation members worked together to solve a practical challenge during a team challenge.
Daniel also serves as software team lead on the Hadassah Neurim robotics team, bringing his passion for technology and problem-solving back to his school community.
