About this episode

Episode 23: In this episode, our new host, Benyamin Cohen, traveled to Hadassah Ein Kerem in Jerusalem to chat with Midwife Gila Zarbiv about what inspired her to choose this career, what exactly a midwife does at Hadassah and her research on how the #MeToo movement is impacting the OB-GYN field.

Gila Zarbiv was born in the U.S. and fell in love with Israel as an 8-year-old, managing to spend as much time as she could in the Mediterranean country — a gap year after high school and every summer and winter vacation throughout college. After she graduated Yeshiva University in New York, she moved to Israel and began her nursing studies at the Henrietta Szold Hadassah-Hebrew University School of Nursing.

It was at Hadassah Hospital where met her husband. He was studying to become a doctor, and she had made the decision to become a registered nurse and certified midwife.

Gila personifies Hadassah Hospital through and through — with her devotion to Israel and to her patients. Check out these behind-the-scenes photos.
