MESSAGE FROM THE DALLAS CHAPTER PRESIDENT

The Dallas Chapter looks back on 2022 with pride at our very successful events when we gathered for interesting, informative, and meaningful sessions. Two notable events included “Saving Our Children – Youth Aliyah,” in March, which featured Hadassah’s CEO, Naomi Adler; and “Diabetes Dilemma,” in November, which featured Dr. Itamar Raz, Head of the Diabetes Unit at Hadassah University Hospital (via video), and Dr. Jaime Davidson, Clinical Professor of Medicine, Touchstone Diabetes Center of UTSW Medical Center.

The Dallas Chapter looks back on 2022 with pride at our very successful events when we gathered for interesting, informative and meaningful sessions. Two notable events included "Saving Our Children — Youth Aliyah" in March, which featured Hadassah CEO Naomi Adler and "Diabetes Dilemma" in November, which featured Dr. Itamar Raz, Director of the Hadassah Diabetes Center (HDC) at Hadassah University Hospital (via video) and Dr. Jaime Davidson, Clinical Professor of Medicine, Touchstone Diabetes Center of UTSW Medical Center.

Additionally, author and friend of Hadassah Randy Grigsby from Shreveport, Louisiana, also spoke at both events about his books "A Train to Palestine" and "This Labyrinth of Darkness and Light: Henrietta Szold, the Rescue of Children from Hitler's Europe and her Palestine Experience.”  Both events were held in-person at Beth Torah Synagogue in Richardson, Texas and attendance was outstanding — we filled the room! In September, we met for a presentation by Leah White, Associate Regional Director at the Anti-Defamation League, Texoma Region, who updated us on their current focus. Each of these events brought us together after so many months of isolation and Zoom.

In January 2023, we gathered for the installation of our 2023 Board and a celebration of Israel at 75 and Hadassah's steadfast commitment to the land and the people. The event also featured a presentation of the 2019-2022 Sarah Mendel Susman Award to an outstanding Hadassah volunteer. It was truly a memorable afternoon!

We invite you to get involved and join our Chapter's interesting and informative activities. These include three book groups: Morning, Evening and Bi-Lingual Spanish/English; Walk with Hadassah monthly lunch group that meets at different local restaurants; Kosher Chili Cookoff; Dining With Hadassah, where members host a dining experience; Hadassah Shabbat; Rosh Hashanah Honey Sales (business is always brisk); get-togethers to stuff and seal our mailings; visits at a senior community and our "Stay at Home Hanukkah Party," a Phantom (No Show event) Fundraiser.

I encourage you to:

  • Become a Hadassah member. Join online: www.hadassah.org/join
  • Donate by visiting www.hadassah.org/donate or leaving a message on our phone 214-691-1948.

I am grateful for my family, my friends, and my Hadassah involvement, and I encourage you to continue your commitment to Hadassah and to get involved as well. It's so rewarding!

May we and Hadassah go from strength to strength.
