Gidon Melmed, executive director of the Hadassah Offices in Israel, was featured on Israel’s Channel 14 news to talk about the strong relationship between Hadassah and Israel.
“Hadassah has historically always stood alongside the State of Israel, especially in times like these,” he says.
He spoke about Hadassah On The Hill: Day of Impact, where nearly 200 Hadassah leaders urged lawmakers, through 100 meetings, to advance legislation to guarantee funding for the security of Jewish institutions, to promote and preserve the strategic alliance between Israel and the US and ensure the continued US support for Israel in the geopolitical arena.
“This day is another expression of that support through real action for Israel and for the Jewish community in the United States,” says Melmed.
When asked how Jews in the US are experiencing the war in the shadow of growing antisemitism, Melmed cites Hadassah’s “From Fear to Resilience: Women Facing Antisemitism” report, which found that two-thirds of Jewish women surveyed expressed real concerns because of antisemitism.
“One thing has been very clear from these two and a half years: We are in this story together,” he adds.
