About this episode

What happens after the war?

In this episode of Hadassah On Call: New Frontiers in Medicine, we take you inside the Gandel Rehabilitation Center at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus with Dr. Elior Moreh, head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Hadassah Medical Organization. Since opening just three months after the October 7, 2023, attacks, the center has become a haven for wounded soldiers and civilians — offering not just physical healing but emotional and psychological care, too.

“We see young, fit people with shattered limbs, nerve damage and trauma,” Dr. Moreh explains. “Rehabilitation is not just about time. It’s about preventing complications and helping patients reach their functional goals.”

Dr. Moreh shares how the team works closely with families, uses cutting-edge technology, such as robotics and brain imaging, and even fast-tracked the center’s opening to meet the wartime needs.

“We want patients to remember that hospitalization is temporary. They have a home. They have a future,” she says.
