Crisis can reveal strength, enhance human connection and demonstrate the resilience of young people.
It’s a hopeful message born from a complex conversation about children coping with war, antisemitism, violence and uncertainty.
Dr. Shiri Ben-David, head psychologist at the Hadassah Medical Organization, and Karen Azoulay, member of the Hadassah International Board of Directors and of Young Hadassah International, join Hadassah On Call's August episode, What We Carry: Guidance for Small Voices, Big Feelings, to offer guidance to parents, teachers and caregivers for equipping young people with the tools they need to navigate the difficult realities.
Dr. Ben-David and Azoulay are contributors to two new guidebooks, Words for Hope and Talking to Kids During Crisis, created by Hadassah International’s Young Hadassah Without Borders Program to support adults in their efforts.
They stress presence, honesty, trust, listening and validation.
