This election year, Hadassah advocates from around the country are encouraging voter education and participation to advance the issues that matter most to their communities.
On November 3, voters will elect 35 US senators, 435 US representatives and 36 governors. The outcomes of these elections will have real impacts on Hadassah's priority issues, including antisemitism, the US-Israel relationship and women’s health outcomes. As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, Hadassah leaders are working around the country to empower members to make their voices heard by voting.
Hadassah regions and chapters are presenting Hadassah Votes events and communications, including a bipartisan meet and greet forum with dozens of Florida candidates, voter registration tabling, ballot initiative mobilization and updates with key details on voting in their local community, Hadassah policy priorities and how to become a poll worker.
“Voting is one of the most important things we can do as citizens,” said Lin Pomerantz, chair of the National Advocacy Team & liaison for Hadassah Florida. "Beyond our Hadassah Votes campaign, this year the National Advocacy Team is excited to provide voter engagement program packages to our local advocacy units across the country.”
So far this cycle, Hadassah advocates are leading over 15 Hadassah Votes engagement programs around the country. These events in Oregon, California, North Carolina, Illinois, Virginia, Florida, Rhode Island and New York focus on educating members about voting requirements and deadlines and creating partnerships with like-minded organizations to engage their communities.
Hadassah advocates Susan Glicksberg and Nancy Lichter presented voting information at the Pacific Northwest leadership retreat, Gaye Jacobs and Lisa Lowhurst partnered on a presentation to Hadassah Central Pacific Coast and Hadassah Chicago-North Shore hosted an event on America 250, featuring the role of Jewish Americans in our country’s history and the importance of voting. Advocates in Florida are partnering with the League of Women Voters to host three in-person and three virtual voting programs across Florida.

Support Choice on the Ballot: Voters will decide on reproductive rights ballot initiatives in Idaho, Missouri, Nevada and Virginia. Spread the word, make calls and sign our pledge if you live in those states. Hadassah is a supporter of Jewish community reproductive freedom phone banking, organized by the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action. Register to call Nevada voters on Thursday evenings in September or contact advocacy@hadassah.org for the most current phone bank schedule.
